I have never been a person who has enjoyed having photos taken of me. I have always shied away from the camera and certainly always hidden behind others in a group shot.
So, two years ago when I was told that I needed to have a headshot for my business website and social media channels. I gulped and dreaded the thought of having photos taken and thought long and hard about who I would choose to take the images of me.
Annie Armitage and her business Annie Armitage Photography www.anniearmitage.com was someone that sprung to mind, as my daughter had spent some time on work experience with her. I noticed how her business was growing in the corporate world and indeed for families, and I took a look specifically at her headshots.
What drew me to her images was their clarity and that everyone looked like they were enjoying the experience. The colours in the images portrayed, confidence, friendliness, warmth and were inviting and all of these characteristics were those that I wanted to draw out in an image of me.
So, I bravely contacted Annie and an appointment was put in the diary. In true Alex style once something is in the diary then that is it, in pen and not to be moved.
The day arrived and I met Annie who made me feel very relaxed from the start. She took various images in different places and with different angles and all in 15 minutes at the wonderful setting of Warren House. www.warrenhouse.com
I skipped off after the session with Annie and felt that I had overcome my fears of photography and couldn’t wait to see the images she had taken. Within a few days Annie had provided me with various different images that I could use on my website, social media channel and marketing materials.
Hey presto!, I was then able to upload these images so that finally people could see the face of ‘Auxilium Admin.’
Over that last few years I have been given many compliments for these images, and more recently my hair colour has naturally changed and so I felt that the headshots needed to be updated. I obviously went back to Annie for the headshot experience for a second time! I wasn’t disappointed and when she revealed the images to me, I was delighted again!
The message here is do not be afraid to have your headshot taken, enjoy the experience and be proud of the images. I wanted to ensure that people could see the ‘real ‘me from the images so that people know who I am, like what they see and trust me, so I hope you agree.
Here are two Headshost, one taken in 2017 and the other in 2019 that I have had taken and they show my hair colour change over the two years in business (perhaps that’s why!) I am proud of both of them. and thank Annie for giving me the confidence and compliments that I can only reply to people with – ”well that’s the power of the perfect headshot taken by Annie Armitage of Annie Armitage Photography based in Kingston.”
